Free

Soaring through the ether of infinity,
touched by the ghost-kiss of absent responsibility,
inhaling the warm breath of dandelions,
The plush meadow of imagination guides.

Drenched in an endless pool of possibilities,
guided by carefree billows and wandering whims,
a lifetime of dreams pass through the ivory mist,
A destination unknown awaits.

The trumpets of advancement,
introduce a king without a kingdom,
as the vines of adventure wrap around the heart,
Tugging it forward with a fear of looking back.

Time and plans are burning in the embers of attachment,
the song of nervous anticipation,
blasts the jangling discord of uncertainty,
As the symphony of realization strikes a chord.

i said to myself, one of these days, i'll read more of more posts. why did it take me too long? you're amazing with words and conjuring emotions and memories in other people. this particualr poem and image articulated one of the items in my tick off list: drive a karmann ghia with america's ventura highway playing in the background as i round a steep bend on a hillside road, past cogon flowers in bloom.
